Rose Smith, CEO & Founder of Black Women In Business will organize and host the 1st Annual Austin’s Black Business Week. As an extension of Texas Black Business Week, created by Ronnie Russell, CEO of Texas Black Pages, she has joined forces as a Co-Brand CEO with hopes of bringing as many cities on board as possible in 2020! Austin will kickoff the week with a Proclamation by Austin Mayor Steve Adler. The second week in February has been deemed as “Austin’s Black Business Week” on an annual basis.
The week will include workshops, panel discussions, vendor exhibits, mixers, appearances and presentations by City Officials, Small Business Development Program Specialists, Local & State Chambers, Business Owners, Non-Profit Organizations, Community Leaders, City/County departments that provide assistance to business owners and non-profit organizations, guest speakers in the technology field, lending agencies and experts on the nuts and bolts of how to build a successful and sustainable business.
It will also include a “stop and shop” for black owned Austin brick and mortar (restaurants, retail shops and boutiques, food trucks etc.) during the week at certain scheduled times. The week will end with an Awards Gala to celebrate black owned businesses of various categories nominated as favorites by local residents. We welcome your ideas and suggestions. This is an event for EVERYONE to support and participate.
