Mix, mingle and kick off the 2018–19 school year at Thinkery Educators’ Night on Thursday, October 11 from 6–8:30 pm, in collaboration with Austin Museum Partnership.

Educators’ Night features opportunities for educators to play in our galleries, connect with colleagues, discover other local museums, and learn more about our hands-on, STEAM-focused educational programs and resources.

Wear your school spirit and come ready to play! School teachers, administrative staff, and informal educators are all welcome to attend this FREE event. Ready for refreshments, door prizes, and tons of fun? Mark your calendars for Thursday, October 11 from 6–8:30 pm.

School Programs: Immersive. Innovative. Fun! Want to explore Thinkery with your students? Learn more about our unique school programs today.

Makey Makey Olympics: Come get active! Complete a circuit using our giant Makey Makey controllers to play Scratch versions of different Olympic sports.

Makey Makey «Rock» Band: Time to rock out! Our DIY guitars use a Makey Makey & Scratch code to turn conductive rocks & minerals into digital instruments.

Thinkery Professional Development: Make learning and fun go hand-in-hand. Thinkery provides educators across Central Texas with professional development programs to help you teach students through education and play.

Camps: Help bring STEAM to life with our innovative camp experiences. Students and educators play, discover, and create side-by-side! Are you ready for Thinkery Camps?

Marble Run Design Challenge: Engineer a solution to a real-world problem using various materials to help you build & refine a working model.

Linkages: Tinker with our tabletop pegboard sets to explore mechanics & movement. Can you create a moving contraption or a dynamic character?

Cardboard Costumes: Unleash your inner costume designer: use cardboard and simple tools to transform yourself! Optional: rock the runway at our 8:00 PM cardboard costume runway show.

Shadow Play: Get inspired to dust off your overhead projector! Explore materials, colors, and light as you create shadow puppets, settings, and props.

Tell Us a Story! Explore stop-motion: animate the triumphant story of a butterfly’s metamorphosis… or the tragedy of the division of an even number by 3. Or, write your own original screenplay!

Program A Bot- Your wish is their command! Learn how to speak two different robot programming languages as you tackle coding challenges.

United Way: The United Way for Greater Austin will provide information about our 2-1-1 Navigation Center that helps connect families resources to meet immediate needs, as well as resources for educators to share with families with young children to support optimal school readiness

KLRU: Bring the World to Your Classroom with PBS Learning Media! KLRU and PBS have curated, FREE, standards-aligned videos, interactives, lesson plans, and more for PreK to 12 teachers!

Texas Memorial Museum: What can fossils teach us about ancient life in Texas? Meet a paleontologist from Texas Memorial Museum and explore fossils from different time periods and environments. Get the scoop on the museum’s curriculum resources, educator workshops, and group rates for school field trips.

Republic of Texas Museum: Although the Republic of Texas is currently closed to visitors, we continue to promote our Annual Art Contest for grades 1-12. Students will submit art depicting people, places, or events from one of ten districts in Texas where they live. Student's research will reveal the diverse heritage and culture of Texans prior to 1850 and their contributions to our great state.

Creative Action: Come meet an animal puppet that will use music and song to help your class develop age-appropriate SEL skills. With a different program for Pre-K — 7th grade, Creative Action's highly engaging interactive performance residencies come into the classroom for five one-hour visits per classroom.

The Williamson Museum: Join The Williamson Museum and take a 16,000 year old step back in time! Can you match tools and their uses from in our Clovis tool matching game? Discover our traveling trunks, educational resources, and field trips that span over 500 years of art, history, science, and culture from Williamson County.

LBJ Presidential Library: Engage your students in civic education through primary sources from the LBJ Presidential Library. Check out field trip options, lesson plans, and special educational programming offered by the museum.

Pioneer Farms: Experience Texas during the 1800s in ways that will engage your students fora unique educational experience. Explore options for unique field trips and engaging opportunities to learn Lone Star history from your classroom.

Bullock Texas State History Museum: Test your sleuthing skills in a hands-on trivia game with mystery artifacts from the Bullock Texas State History Museum. Find out about bringing your students to the museum, or connecting virtually from your classroom.

Mexic-Arte Museum: Celebrating Día de los Muertos: Learn about the rich history and traditions of the Mexican celebration, Day of the Dead, while paper folding «Alebrije Masks»

MathHappens: MathHappens loves the way Math ideas build on each other. Learn a way to teach even young students to build a square root spiral. Take home a secret compartment necklace that will fun to wear in class.

Art Galleries at Black Studies: A picture is worth a thousand words. How do artists create visual narratives? Explore this intriguing question by making your own with the Art Galleries at Black Studies. Be a poet for the night and respond to works of art from the gallery, while also learning more about our educational tours and how to bring your students for a visit.

Cardboard Costume Runway Show: (Optional) Rock the runway in your cardboard costume… or come vote for your favorite designer! Show begins at 8:00 PM.
