«How could they ever make a movie out of LOLITA?»
Stanley Kubrick's LOLITA is a brilliant and sly adaptation of Vladimir Nabokov's celebrated and controversial novel of a middle-aged man's doomed sexual obsession for a precocious «nymphet» girl. Made from a double-entendre-filled script by Nabokov himself, Kubrick’s road movie/comedy of manners/Old World-meets-New World satire/tale of erotic obsession is shot in beautiful black and white. An uncomfortable, subversive, black comedy masterpiece.
Screening in 35mm.
